Shady Lanes

Originally from the east
coast, Shady settled in San Francisco seven years ago, at which
time she began to work actively, and successfully as a
photographer. Primarily self-taught, her intuitive sensibilities
and natural eye lend themselves to a body of work distinct from
cold academia and theory. Shady has consistently been in search
of forms often concealed or ignored in the hustle and bustle of
the everyday. Her work is a revelation of the aesthetic beauty
of practical structures stripped of their primarily utilitarian
functions. Wholeheartedly committed to the ideals related
through her work, Shady abandoned her full time office job to
devote her full attention to photography, a decision which has
led to remarkable results, having been featured in several shows
and galleries around the San Francisco Bay Area, including the
prestigious SF MOMA Artist's Gallery. In addition to commercial
and fine art work, she has also produced and curated several
intimate events showcasing the work of her peers. Most
recently, in Spring of 2004 she was hired to curate, organize
and promote a show called "Live Free or Die" for the Freewheel
Bike shop in San Francisco.
