Mark Padron

Mark picked up his
first camera (he is told) when he was 20 months old and the rest
is history. Well, not really - His love of visuals has made him
a casual voyeur of the things everyday people take for granted
or just can't see. A wrapper on the ground makes for a great
contrast of light and shade or the ability to capture, in a
split second, the sneering eye of a passerby who is not
comfortable viewing a woman breast feeding on a park bench. From
a very early age, Mark did not take the 'usual' photographs. His
work can be disturbing (he has been known to spend days on the
streets with the homeless to give the public a very private view
of sadness and public service run amok) and touching (Mark loves
babies!). Mark describes himself as a 'guerilla photographer'.
His worst nightmare is working in a department store portrait
studio. His experiments in photography are, at times, very
beautiful and 'outside the box' and, to his own admission, his
experiments have been embarrassingly miserable failures. Like in
the movie - you just don't know what you are going to get. Mark
finds this method of photography exciting. As an amateur and
hobbyist photographer, he would rather give a print to a friend
who understands his vision rather than sell the print to a
stranger online. But, Mark does sell and that is what makes you
scratch your head. He is his worst critic and declines more
projects than he accepts. Not for fear of failing, but "is it
interesting?". Mark is self-trained and has recently made the
jump to the digital format. His new camera of choice is the
Canon Digital Rebel, but he also supports his habit with Minolta
bodies and Nikon Digital cameras. Mark is a workaholic in
denial. When he isn't at his desk in his day job, you can find
him with his camera on the side of the road photographing
livestock, grazing in the fog. Mark has two children and a very
patient wife.
