Karen Pike

Each person is
born with a gift. All gifts and talents need to grow and
discover to reach their full potential. Karen was blessed with
the gift of art. Her bold strokes and passion for color revels
her energetic and expressive self. Her art is a celebration of
life, love, friends and family, sparkling with splashes of color
and containing subtle tones for warmth and mood. Karen
discovered art early on, her parents and teachers recognized her
drive and passion towards art and they encouraged her. In fact,
there was no stopping it. Karen was accepted in 1992 to
L.A.C.H.S.A. (Los Angeles County High School for the Arts) where
she was truly able to explore art in many mediums under a highly
talented and knowledgeable staff. This is when her art work took
off. She received a scholarship to the University of Arizona and
graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts, with an
emphasis on 2-d and 3-d illustration. Lucky to have so many
encouraging teachers and muses in her life, she teamed up with
Anita Reedy, an accomplished interior designer and founder of
Mon Jordan. They worked together to make many gorgeous lines of
hand painted silk pillows sold at Burdogh Goodman and other
exquisite boutiques in New York and California. Under the
direction of Heather Rice, she created another special line of
pillows, as a tribute to beloved pets; the proceeds were donated
to Baja Animal Sanctuary. Karen's passion for art naturally led
to becoming a freelance artist, exploring many mediums and
testing her talents. In Tucson, AZ she designed and completed
numerous residential and commercial murals, including a mural
for The Tucson's Children's Museum. Visits to the wine country
of Northern California have inspired numerous painting of
grapes, wine and celebration. She also spent two years in Hawaii
and was inspired by the natural beauty, the crystal blue green
waters, the tall swaying coconut trees, and the island "ohanna".
Much of her recent works continue to reflect the island beauty.
Every bit of her life touches art. Now back in California Karen
is very active in the art community. She enjoys showing off her
techniques in live paint shows and art battles. Her work is
presently being reproduced my Malovani Design. Malovani Design
recreates her art work as 100% hand painted oils, that are sold
all over the United States. She is currently is working on a new
concept, fine for the garden. Painted on special treated metal,
Karen paints beautifull sceens using her bright pallet and
imagination. Over time the painting well begin to rust adding a
nice rustic feel. it brings live to any nook or favorite garden
spot. Her artwork is a bundle of life experiences inspired by a
devotion to family and friends, the love of nature and all god's
creatures, and special times remembered. Her art flows from her
imagination and takes on a life of its own. Seeing the world
through an artist's eyes is truly different each time you look.
